Nahid Tehrani Sabet (Author in Charge)
Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The Indian style, influenced by the inspirations of Qajar period writers, has been disliked by some. But there is no doubt that the poems of this period are distinguished from other periods in terms of novelty and strangeness. Saeb is the greatest poet of Hindi ghazals in Iran, who has created more new themes than any other poet. In addition, the repetition of themes is also notable in her poetry. In Indian style, motifs are distinguished by their frequency. "Ashes and mirror" are one of the repetitions seen in Saeb"s poetry. The purpose of this article is to examine the characteristics of this repetition and the concepts and themes contained in it, and to express Saeb"s innovations in this field.
METHODOLOGY: which have been carried out using a documentary method and an analytical approach. Fifty verses from the ghazals of Saeb"s Divan refer to the way rust was removed from metal mirrors in the past, and in them, ash and mirror come together.
FINDINGS: In these verses, similes, metaphors, and sometimes the style of equations and proverbs are seen. In some cases, she only uses the combination of ash and mirror and does not directly refer to this method of rust removal, and in one place
CONCLUSION: In these verses, Saeb, in line with the view of the mystics, believes that the truth is within us and that we must prepare the ground for understanding and comprehension by refining our hearts. To do this, we need to avoid far-fetched dreams, cultivate humility and modesty, and not be afraid of hardships. Advice for worship, piety, and living a life of love are among the things found in these verses. Paradoxical interpretations are sometimes observed in these cases, which indicate her unfamiliar outlook and are an example of Saeb"s attempt to break free from the dominance of literary traditions while at the same time adhering to them.
